The Blue Ray

Diamond Peak Oregon

I first learned about color therapy when I went to design school at the age of eighteen. I learned that color affects our mind, body, and spirit whether we are aware of this or not. For example, vibrant colors such as bright red and yellow have an exciting effect. Red is also known as an appetite stimulate. This is why many fast food companies decorate their restaurants in these colors. From a business perspective, the idea is to get hungry people in and out as quickly as possible in order to gain more revenue.

Intuitively, we all know that color is energy based on the law of vibration. The visible spectrum or the seven colors of the rainbow have a different wavelength and vibrational frequency. Red has the longest wavelength and the slowest vibrational frequency. Violet has the shortest wavelength and the fastest frequency. Each color ray has specific healing and restorative properties.

We are all energetic beings and vibrate at a certain rate. We also have energy centers within our body called CHAKRAS that are governed by certain colors and associated with different body systems and emotional issues. For instance, SKY BLUE is the color of the throat chakra that allows us to "speak our truth" and represents the spiritual aspects of our lives. It is associated with the thyroid gland, which controls metabolism and body temperature.

By becoming conscious of color, you can begin to transform and heal your life with color therapy. In this post, I will be discussing the SKY BLUE RAY as it has tremendous therapeutic benefits. Blue is a cool color that creates a sense of peace and calm. SKY BLUE can lower blood pressure and body temperature, calm our nervous system, alleviate pain, heal burns, heal throat problems, and reduce fever. SKY BLUE helps with all aspects of communication, strengthens our aura, and protects us from dense energies. However, too much blue can make you feel cold, depressed, and sorrowful.

There are many ways to use color in our lives. We can gaze at color, apply color swatches to our body, envision healing color rays, wear color, surround ourselves with color, create art with color, meditate on color, use colored crystals, use essential oils, eat colored fruits and vegetables, breathe in color or google a color on your computer and look at it for a few minutes until you feel satiated.

I have found Inna Segal's work on color therapy to be extremely helpful on my journey. I use her color cards that contain information about the healing power of color, visualizations, and affirmations. I just purchased her book The Secret Language of Your Body and it is one of the best reference guides I have found thus far about understanding the messages of the body besides the following books:

Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom by Christiane Northrup, M.D.
You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay
Quantum Healing, an A-Z Self Healing Guide for Over 100 Common Ailments by Deanna M. Minich, Ph.D., C.N.
Feelings Buried Alive Never Die by Karol K. Truman
In Search of Healing: Whole-Body Healing Through the Mind-Body-Spirit Connection by William A. McGarey, M.D.

We naturally gravitate towards colors that create balance in our bodies and in our lives. Pay attention to what colors you are drawn to or what kind of colorful foods you are craving and then notice the areas of your body that may need some attention. Below is a list of our seven basic chakras with the corresponding colors, body systems, and emotional issues.
