Brown is a solid, earthy color. It grounds, heals, and neutralizes dense energy. Brown is especially effective in stabilizing anxious energy and creating boundaries. It calms intense emotions. The soil, the skin of Gaia nourishes us and transforms organic compounds into life.  It is a symbiotic relationship.

The best way to utilize the brown ray is to get out into to nature. Take off your shoes and feel the soft brown soil underneath your bare feet. Feel the release that comes from letting go of things that keep us constricted and trapped in our own self-imposed limitations. Visualize anything that no longer serves you to be released into the earth where it can be transmuted and composted.

Down to Earth,

  1. Hi Jan - I'm a 'skeptic', I guess would be the best description, of colour, smells etc having properties - Actually that's not quite true - I do know that colours and smells can be very powerful reminders or connectors to events, people, emotions etc - so maybe I'm not really a skeptic? Anyway, the reason for my post is that last year I had a massive meltdown with PTSD and fond IO could;t do so much as get out of the house or even unction properly at all. I lost my job, couldn't even drive! My wife had to come pick me up from where I had driven to one day because I coolant; drive any further - not even to go home! Anyhow, long story just a fraction healing came through two avenues - I am a Christian and I was anointed with oil and prayed for at one of our healing services...I felt an instant lifting of my spirit and new that I had been healed. The other, equally as strong but more progressive healing cane in the form of Permaculture and creating compost! I spent hours each day in our back garden creating a mountain of compost you wouldn't believe! Brown Brown Brown Brown! I started reading your post with the skeptical analytical side of my mind - but as soon as I read:

"Brown is a solid, earthy color. It grounds, heals, and neutralizes dense energy. Brown is especially effective in stabilizing anxious energy and creating boundaries. It calms intense emotions."

I knew from my own experience that this is true - it is so very true. With just that one sentence Jan, you have made me seek to dig (yep - gardening reference intended) deeper into your blog and learn some more. Blessing to you and your readers.

    1. Hello, I want to preface my response by saying that it is very wise to be a skeptic. I was raised Christian and have always felt an awareness and connection to an Omnipresent Source. Your experience of healing through prayer brought tears to my eyes. After a near-death experience in 1993, I started to question everything especially religion. Although I still believe in many Christian teachings, I see and feel things from an energetic perspective.

I'm so sorry to hear about your meltdown. PTSD can be so debilitating. I'm healing from Post-Concussion Syndrome and have had a few breakdowns myself. This past year has been so stressful and emotional. My saving grace has been my faith, family, writing, and being out in nature. I've also been coloring because it relaxes my nervous system. I recently purchased some great coloring books from Barnes and Noble. Who knew color therapy was such a trend right now! My doctor just recommended the book "Mindfulness: An Eight-Week Plan for Finding Peace in a Frantic World" by Mark Williams and Danny Penman. While reading, I'm reminded to have self-compassion no matter where I'm at on my journey.

Thank you so much for sharing. I was deeply touched by your words. Many blessings to you! Jan
