John Day River Territory

This arid, desolate and rugged part of Oregon is such a magnificent place to visit when seeking refuge from the hustle and bustle of life. The John Day River is one of my favorite bodies of water in the state to spend time with. One of the longest free-flowing river systems in the United States, she is calm and welcoming as she winds her way through canyons and rock formations. The river supports the surrounding ecosystem as well as several species of fresh water fish. The warm waters are navigable by rafts and small boats. If you are coming or going to Portland, Oregon from Central/Eastern Oregon through the Columbia Gorge, Cottonwood Canyon State Park is an excellent place to visit. Although, there are many areas to enjoy the John Day River Territory and below are some photos from a recent get away.

Hope you are all doing well!
